A free, bilingual and interactive course

What is public space? Why do artists choose to work in these unconventional places? How do they use these spaces around the world? What kinds of legislation and technical characteristics do professionals have to take into account? This MOOC presents all the artistic, political and human diversity of projects in public space and the full range of their aesthetics. It is first and foremost an analytical tool and a knowledge base.

Free and available in French and English, it provides artists and international cultural stakeholders the opportunity to explore artistic creation in public space.

This content will provide three-hour learning sessions each week, broken down into:

  •  about fifteen lessons, in the form of short 3-minute videos
  •  5 to 10 additional interviews with European artists and professionals
  • educational activities such as quiz and practical exercises, for testing comprehension and putting knowledge into practice

Additional resource documents allow you to “go further”: each week, those summarize the lessons and key notions, providing external links to help you find out more about all the artistic projects mentioned in the course.

Who is the MOOC for?

Artists, students in art, architecture or town planning, programmers and cultural planners, elected officials and staff working in collectivities, festivals’ audiences…This MOOC is open to anyone who is interested in creating and learning more about art in public space.
No prerequisite is necessary except your good will to learn.

Lead working groups around MOOC!

Create in Public Space is primarily designed for individual learning, in the usual MOOC way. But we also foresee the possibility of learning in groups, including collective experiences and practice.
